is boost guage needed
is boost guage needed
running stock truck with intake and exhuast soon, plan on getting exhaust temp guage should i worry about keeping an eye on turbo boost or is that only needed with programmers
Why not just do the ones you know you will need in the future. It would stop you from having to do everything over again. I know it costs a little more money, but its not THAT bad. I got a Fuel pressure, 60 psi boost and EGT setup with gauges, A pillar pod, and all necessary hardware and probes from dieselmanor.com for about $300.

On a stock truck, a boost guage is good to indicate when you're getting the best fuel mileage. When the boost guage goes up, the mileage goes down. It gives you a better indication as to when to shift than the tachometer does. It will also tell you if all your intake and turbo connections are tight. There may other advantages, but those are a couple. Oh, one more - it's a fun guage to watch, because it really moves around alot!

It really helps with MPG. If I keep the boost at under 10 PSI I get much better MPG. I really can't feel/hear the difference from 12-13 PSI but it seems 10 psi is very efficient. LOL not that I don't use it for making sure I don't go over 40-42 PSI
The OTHER benefit is to see if you are loosing boost. (leak in the hoses or intercooler.)
Once you get used to how it is normal... than if some abnormal boost #'s start to happen you know something is wrong.
EGT and boost even on a stock truck is a must in my opinion. They should be stock from the factory.
