Boost Gauge Install Question
Boost Gauge Install Question
I'm sure this is gonna be a stupid question, but can someone explain what and where you tap into to get a boost reading. On my first gen I removed a fitting on the side of my block, but I dont see one on my third gen. I have all the gauges wired except for running the plastic line for the boost gauge. Can anyone shed some light on the subject or direct me to a place where there are instructions?
Thanks,
Cody

I ended up taping the intake horn like oops did. It was simple and I didnt want to wait any longer to have a functional boost gauge. So far I'm getting a max of 30 pounds of boost and a max of 1200 degrees. Do these numbers sound right for a completely stock truck? i'm also noticing some smoke from the crankcase breather tube underneath the truck. The truck only has 1,600 miles on it....is that normal also?

All sounds normal. When my truck was new (800 miles when I installed gauges) I was hitting 1375*F @ WOT
and 33psi of boost. Your engine is nowhere near broken in and you will get some blowby for awhile.

As long as we're on the boost gauge subject, let me hijack the thread a little.
I've heard of the little plastic tube coming out of the back of the boost gauge and coming out of the boost bolt sometimes. What does one do to prevent this?

I have seen recommendations to use small tie wraps to keep that from happening. Mine has bee on for 15000 miles at least and has seen close to 40psi and so far no problems with coming loose.
