"Boost Fooler" Question

Does this device leave a footprint for the dealer to find if it is removed before the visit?

It will allow for more boost than stock. Won't the dealer be able to read the max boost level(s) stored in the ECM and see it's much higher stock?

I would think not, as the whole 'fooler' concept means the ECM thinks it is running normally.

Lol! Guess that's what happens when you post before

Not to hijack, but does anyone know for sure what parameters are stored in the ECM like that (if any)? I assume things like boost, fuel pressure, fuel quantity, and timing can/will be stored if the default maximum values are exceeded?

I thought there was a post a couple years ago on Pirate4x4 from a guy who blew his CTD while towing with a box? If I remember correctly, he removed the box and the dealer still voided his warranty because they could see the max boost stored in the ECM was higher than the stock W/G would allow. Anyone remember this or have a link?

Great info from all, but if the boost fooler tells the ecm a "LIE" that would be all that is documented. It would have no way of telling actual PSI. Again, if I am correct how it works the computer thinks the boost is say 30psi when it is actually 38psi. But I could be wrong...

Correct-if The Boost Fooler Allowed The Ecm To See 38 Psi, Then It Did Not Do A Good Job Of Fooling.

If the ECM saw high boost numbers then it would throw a code. If you are not seeing any codes then the ECM probably thinks all is well.

Will the boost foolers help keep EGT's down? It make more boost which make more air flow which should make cooler EGT's right??

Yes. Yes.

But more air is not always cool air. You will see a reduction in EGT's and higher boost with a boost fooler, similar to an aftermarket turbo....but you will never see the performance of a bigger turbo with the boost fooler because it simply can't move enough air. Theres a point where the stock turbo reaches maximum efficiency range.

I fully agree with you on this statement
