I made a boost elbow from a 90 1/8 npt to 1/4 barb. I drilled a hole and tapped for a 5/16-24 set screw. I also drilled a tiny (less than a 1/16) hole on the barb side for a bleed. I then installed it.

If i close it completely i see 27psi. If i crack it i see around 20 psi. Normally with the stock fitting i see a max of 22-23 or so.

I thought i would see more in the 34-35 psi range instead of the max 27 i see now. I have tried the Smarty on sw 1 and sw3. Am i missing something ? Can my bleed hole be to big or should i not have one at all. It doesn't make sense to even have the bleed screw. I would think i would see more boost without it. I see some don't have the bleed and some do.

Ideas ?

 

Is the bleed screw completely sealing off the port?

A quick test is the clamp off the wastegate line and see if the boost increases.

I have the bleed screw blocking off the line completely. The only thing the wastegate gets is the air from the bleed hole. I'll try the clamp tomorrow and see what happens.
