Boost

How many pouds of boost can i expect to get out of my stock truck. i am trying to decided if i need a 35lb gauge or a 60lb.... i might add a power mod or two in the futture, but not for sure.

Even a stoc truck with a boost fooler... how much would it produce with that? more than 35lbs?

My truck has the Bully Dog Triple Dog installed. Suppose to have the Crazy Larry tune, but I can't tell and I never use it. However, I can only make around 25lbs of boost. I once saw 32 for a split second on the Outlook Monitor, but I've never been able to get it to do it again. Normally it goes to 25 or so and settles in at 23lbs. I'm wondering if a boost fooler will help. Will it hurt the truck? I'm getting nervous about wreckin' the trans. I run two, and only performance once in a while. I never do boosted launches. Thoughts?

Can't tell you anything about the BDTD,never used one. I can tell you that I have an 06 very similar to yours and bone stock mine would hit 32 lbs and ease back down to about 28# and settle there if you held it for very long. With the Smarty Jr. on SW2 I can hit 38#. I have been out today doing some testing with the Smarty Jr. with and without the boost fooler to see what, if any, difference there is.
It sounds to me as though the BDTD is not boost fooling and therefore you could probably use a boost fooler. Still doesn't make much sense why you are only seeing 25# though. As far as a boost fooler hurting the truck, I would say not if you use it sensibly. On the other hand, any time you are putting out more than stock power, you have put yourself in a position to break things with the stock auto tranny being very high on that list. It won't last very long if you're beating on it. You play-You pay.

Well I read today that the BDTD is not boost fooling. So that makes sense. I'm tempted to unload it and see what it does. Wonder if my older CL program I downloaded is wacked. Sounds like a boost fooler is in order.

I realize you pay to play, but you can be reasonable about things too. I've been more worried about injectors and such these days. Really don't want to go through that.

Get the 60.

Heck, I have a 60 now, wish I had a 100. I've bent the needle on the dyno.

Plan for the future.

I do believe that the stock Turbo is only rated at 40psi max. I have had mine close to that 38psi on several occasions. I do run a boost fooler to get that high.
