Blue smoke! Injectors?

When i start my truck there is alittle whitish smoke, but when i go down my driveway it starts pooring some blueish smoke out the stack. I have a pretty long and steep driveway so i just drop it in 2nd gear and dont touch the brake. This is when i notice the smoke and it doesnt smoke like this any other time. Its been pretty cold up here in PA, but this doesnt look like that kind of smoke. Is this an injector problem??

How many miles on the engine? If you only see it at idle/cold start I'd be inclined to think the valve guides are getting a little worn and letting small amounts of oil into the combustion chamber.

If you see the smoke at all temps, but only when you let off the skinny pedal quickly, I'd check turbo bearings for play. I've had them get loose and start leaking oil every time drive pressure let off. Not sure why.

Just a couple other possibilities, if it starts and runs fine I'd look at those things first ...

Thanks busted wrench. My truck has 180,000 miles on it. It runs great and starts right up, no hesitation. I will have to check the valves. Hopefully that is the only problem.

I bought an engine with a rebuilt head, the shop that did it cheaped out and used brass valve guides. They had .005 to .006" play after 30k miles and leaked generously. Royal pain in the a**.

There is a good chance if the valve guides are gone that you will also be able to see some moisture (oil) on the head around the exhaust ports where the exhaust manifold bolts on.

BTW when you say it's pouring blue smoke, are you talking big clouds or just a steady haze?

It's a steady haze but a good amount. It's not like I'm jumping on it and dumping black smoke but I consider it more smoke than I should see even on a cold start on a cold day. Put it this way. My driveway is about 200 yards long and it smokes the whole way down but when I get out on the road it seems to clear up quickly.
