What to Monitor with an Edge??

Just purchased an Edge Evolution for towing and monitoring engine systems. What are the best things to monitor on the main screen? Thanks.

I set mine up to monitor: EGT, Engine Temp, Turbo Boost, and Load. Others may diagree as to what they use as preference. Comes in handy when towing especially the EGT {exhaust gas temps.}. Also turbo shut down set to 400* .

Rail pressure, boost, egt, battery temp and water temp the monitor gauges seem to run real close to factory ones.

Thanks for all the info. I think I'm also going to add an Amsoil oil bypass and possibly oil temp. I'd also like to add a ppe rear dif cover and temp sensor. I mostly just use the truck for towing my camper.

Just recieved some goodies today. It will probably be a while before the temps get warm enough for me to start messing with them though.

I watch, EGT's (1300), Boost (40PSI), Tranny Temp (235) Engine Temp (230)

I'll change out the Boost for Engine Load if towing something differant than normal.

Check the records section on the cab unit after a long run to see what the other parameters were during the tow. Zero them out after you look. If you have something that don't look right drop one of the standards and load it up on the cab monitor.

OK, got the Edge installed and set up the gages. I still need to buy an EGT probe and istall it. Looks like that is an important one to have. I'll try and have that done before long.

If you are going up any kind of grades or inclines it is a must to monitor when towing as far as I am concerned. You don't need to be the first at the top but you will finish with alot less problems when keeping your egt at a low temp. Then if you have a turbo timer to shut her down after a big pull it helps or just watch your monitor and shut er down when she gets down to 350* or there abouts...

Thanks. I've been doing some reading on Tubo Timers and it looks like a good idea. Or just using a cool down period watching the egt's. Hopefully I can get one soon.

I see around 500*-700*, cools down quick when coming to a stop or coasting which is to be expected. Towing temps are higher especially on grades { depends on trailer weight : mine 13K to 13.5K} up to and as much as 1200*-1300* I back off the throttle when I get my warning buzzer to go off...Of course ambient temps make a little difference too. Remember to let the turbo cool down when you are above 350*-400* after coming to a stop or toliet break. I always let my wife go first as I let the truck cool down for security reasons and temps. Hope this helps
