Block heater?

A few questions please regarding the block heater.

1. How long can I leave her pluged in?

2. What damage could I cause to my rig using it?

3. What is the minimum time to get it warmed up pretty good?

We are not going to be above freezing for a few days and I never know when Im gonna have to fire her up and roll, so no timer option for me. Thanks guys.

1. You won't hurt anything by leaving it plugged in all the time, but many folks choose to use a timer so as not to waste power.

2. I've never heard of anyone causing damage by using the block heater? Just remember to unplug before you drive off.

3. A couple hours will make a difference if it's around freezing. If it's much colder, I will set my timer for 4 hours.

I've started my truck down to about zero w/o being plugged in, and it will start reliably, but it seems much easier on the engine to plug it in (less smoke, noise, defrosts sooner...).

Heck ya its too cold. My CC buttons havent worked since I bough the truck, so the block heater is my friend. If Im at the ice house and leave it running when I come out it is sitting at 1,000 RPM. Go figure.

Yep still freezing rain off and on. Good thing A&M classes are cancelled for tomorrow.

I'm a hunter...have been my whole life....went hunting when it was 8 degrees once....but never again. 40 or above is comfortable rule

Talkin about how yall look good cause you have sleet and not freezing rain. If you are moving through the area watch out for "black ice" and other hazzards. Things are "closed down" there. Tomorrow should be better. Actually that was over the last few hours. Im listening to WOAI on channel 0080 right now(local), so CS hasent come up much.
