Big score at autozone

I stopped in an autozone in hartford to pick up oil for the girlfriend's maxima and spotted vintage jugs of rotella synthetic. I checked them out and they were the CI-4!! I guess nobody in the city drives a diesel. So I bought all 5 gallons of the old stuff that they had. I just wish they sold fleetguard filters too. BTW there was a guy attempting to return a 2 year old battery because he sold the car and didn't need it anymore. The lady asked if he was serious. I got a good laugh out of that.

I haven't looked at the newer bottles, does it not meet the CI-4 spec?

yes the cj-4 newer stuff meets all the ci-4 specs. the cj-4 does not have as much zddp as the ci-4. i read old posts for 3 hours one nite of why the ci-4 is better.

That sounds like a good reason to return a battery. I plan on returning my tires once I get new ones as i wont need them anymore either. And thats why i could never do customer service...

Good find! I found a bunch of the same oil on the shelf at Chinamart in my old hometown one visit back home a couple of years ago. I stocked up with like 12 jugs.....all they had. I had a little more still saved up at home. But now it's all gone as of my last oil change.

Im about 95 percent sure im switching to John Deere oil next go round.....as it's readily available and it's CI-4+.

that rotella 5-40 isn't cheap, cost's around $100 to do an oil change with filter.

I am going with the JD oil in the summertime. I like the rotella syn 5-40 in the winter for the cold starts. I add 4 bottles of STP which puts alot of the ZDDP back in.

Rotella 5-40 is $19/gallon at walmart or autozone. How do you get to $100?
