If 600 or more HP is your goal, plan accordingly.

Don,
I have noticed that the trucks from your camp that are running twins, TST, and the EZ seem to always claim mid 500hp range and up even before the EDM's. Yet every truck I've seen run with this combo seems to top out in the high 400 range with the same parts. Then they add EDM's and seem to be in the 600+ group. The numbers seem pretty odd to me.
I believe in the theory and real world differences between the stock injectors and the EDM's (I'm on a vendors list for the Flux's) but I don't see the base difference of over 100 hp being due to the type of twins a truck is running. Any thoughts on the differences pre-EDM's installation?

I dont have many guys in the camp yet on the 3rd gens. Im a pee wee in that market
Nathan did a best of 550 with a huge single turbo, the TST, our pressure box and some (123 HP) honed stock injectors I made him. This was last May. After the twins went on the power was about the same. In the 550 range, but the big single had mucho mucho lag and max EGT was over 2000. The twins picked up the low and mid range power and dropped the EGT to 1500. In went the 14th or 15th set of injectors we tried and the power came up to near 600. The EGT now wont exceed 1300.
Brandon had 574 HP with his using stock injectors, Olees twins, the TST and EZ. With the EDM's he went 623.
With the exception of Scott Radke and a few alpha and beta testers, that is it for publicly sold EDM injectors. Radke did 503 with his SO truck using a HTB2 singe, the TST, and a ramifrier. I dont know what it did with the stock injectors, but I have not seen an SO truck that high yet.
What does your truck dyno? Can you get to Shelleys or the dealership there that has a DynoJet?
I dont know what the twins of other manufacturers do. BD says their twins are rated for 500 HP. Maybe I read 550 somewhere? I do know they are small and might not make the 600 mark.
Brandon has a B-2. A larger of most of the primary tubos for twins.

I can almost see Shelley's shop from where I'm sitting but my truck won't fit on his dyno due to the height. Too bad since he was one of my instructor's in school way back when and I sure get a kick out of hanging around with the little guy.
I ran at Piers after the twins went in and couldn't break 484 hp and 1100 tq with the items in my sig. We ran short on time so I didn't get to try any PL's under 5. I had just recieved the twins flash from Mark and I was early on in the learning curve with the new PL's of this program. The VA made great torque down low but really layed down on the top end compared to what I've seen from the EZ/TST combo. Temps and smoke went up but power stayed within a few hp on every run.
That's why I'm on the list for the EDM's. Better atomization and more hp per lb of fuel used. I've got some good stock injector runs for comparison and I hope to get on a dyno-jet for a few more runs before my name comes up on Rip's list.

Yeah, it's Davis Diesel, I stopped by there last week. They wanted a "C note" for three lousy pulls. We really need a decent diesel shop in Spokane. I'll may have to run over to DDP or find one on the road while I'm runnin' cross country. I'll get it handled before the EDM's go in.
Thanks for the replies Don.

I think some of the difference is tuning. I've made 50 or so dyno runs with my 3rd gen to date and it took most of those to get it where it is today. Most people dont worry about tuning until their truck doesn't make the hp they thought it should.
The same thing happened with my '02. I know I have upwards of 80+ dyno runs on that truck and everyone couldn't believe it when it did as much hp as it did. People still ask me what I did to get it that high because they have most of the same parts as I have and are down 40-50hp from where I am. Most have only dynoed the truck 4 or 5 times though and haven't done much tuning. Dyno time isn't cheap and if you dont know what to look for on the street/strip it wont help you.

I agree on the tuning aspect with the 2nd gens. Spent a lot of time on my '97 getting her just right. The 3rd gens on the other hand don't lend themselves to old school tuning. Other than getting your gates right or trying different housings all you seem to have control of are box settings or different boxes altogether.
If there's more I should be looking at or if I'm missing something please let me know. Being stuck with just electronics and little to no mechanical input on my end is driving me crazy!

Gypsyman:
My son John Jr. who goes by "banshee" on this site has a set of Scheid Twin
Turbos with STOCK injectors and his is putting down 556-560 RWHP depending
on what dyno he runs on. With a very small shot of nitrous he is at 588 H.P.
and can run 13.9 @ 100 MPH in the quarter mile! His truck is a 2004 Dodge
CTR CR 4X4, 6 Speed with the 3.73 gearing.
If you are interested in the Scheid Twin Turbos you can contact Mike Wood
at "Scheid Diesel (Effingham. Ill.) @ 1-800-669-1934. Or you can get on
Scheid's website @ www.scheiddiesel.com. They have a real good photo
of one of their twin turbo systems.

O.K., sorry about that!
I should have looked at you signature. FYI, "banshee"
is running the TST PM 3 CR box "stacked" with the Edge EZ, so I guess that would
be along the lines of what you posted earlier. Anyway,........sorry about my over-
sight on your modifications!

I agree completely with Nathan(Idaho CTD) on tuning done on the dyno. I have found drag race at the track another good way to tune, but you get more out of dynoing.
My 623hp dyno run was the 53rd pull I had made with my 3rd gen.
