Best RPM to shift

I have been up shifting at around 1600 to 1800 RPM with my truck. What speed does the membership shift at.?

Normal driving my rpms are close to yours, maybe a little lower. While towing, between 2000 and 2400. It all depends on load and grade of hill. Mostly, I shift based mostly on feel. The more you drive, the more you will get accustomed to shifting. Is your first manual tranny?

No have had lots of manuals, just wondering what the the membership was shifting at. Smoothest seems to be in that 1700 range but have not had a load on the truck yet.

Sometimes as low as about 1300 RPM. But that's when I'm barely touching the throttle. I can cruise at 30 MPH in 6th gear (speed limit on the military base out here) and it drives fine. But if I ever towed something heavy, I would be shifting at a lot higher range.

I'm right around 1700 to 2000 under normal driving. Any lower unloaded and it sends a shock in the driveline. For me anyway.

I like to shift at 2000-2400 that seems to be the smoothest spot for me

I know what your saying when driving on base!Same here!Lower RPMs seem to help my fuel milge to.

Same here, I have smoother shifts between 2000-2400 rpms.

1900-2000 rpms is the sweet spot for the engine....so I would think you would want to shift above that????

When the truck is warming up I shift about 1500-1700 and after it is warm and under normal conditions I shift at 1800-2100. Seems nice and smoothe and also helps the MPG a small amount.
