I mounted mine on the left side on the grap handle piece like a pillar mount. They come with a metal peice that allows you to mount it there. Just two screw you have to screw into the pillar but hardly noticable if you remove the monitor. Another buddy of mine has it mounted on his steering column. I kinda think it's hard to see and watch down there without taking your eyes off the road but it's your call.

I'd look on the Classified section of DTR.... There is always a couple for sale and for way under the retail price.
