Best Exhaust for loudness

Im looking into getting an exhaust for my truck. I have 4" aluminum from the cat back but want to put 5" from the turbo back. Will it be louder than what i have now?

Yes, it will be louder than the 4", especially if you arent running a muffler.

I liked my 5" straight pipe, ill probably end up putting it back on sometime soon...

I am running 5 inch from downpipe to the stacks. It is loud but it is just not the same as a 12 valve. The 3rd gen just don't do it for me as my old 91 or 01 did. I will tell you that from the 4" to 5" the sound is more deep. If you are running the exhaust out the back put at least a 6" tip and it will help out alot. Aaron

yea i like the drone, i just want it to be way more loud. So a 5" aluminum will be plenty loud? What brand should i look into getting or just go down to a muffler shop and have them put the aluminum pipe they have there in the truck.

I found mine online for $350ish shipped, included a downpipe(4"), but I didnt use it, it was off of my 12valve, and it was long enough to use again on my Quad/Short 3rd gen, so I have the stock 4" downpipe to where the cat used to be, then 5" from there back, sounds pretty good. Its not on the truck right now, but ill probably put it back on in the next few weeks.
Give me a shout if you want to hear it, I drive out to Southlake all the time visiting my parents...

I bought my 5" kit with 5" downpipe from City Muffler(who is a dealer off ebay) for $340 shipped.

And yes, the 5" is definetely the way to go. IMO, the 3rd gens sound like crap compared to the 1st and 2nd gens, but 5" will definetly make them sound much better and obnoxiously LOUD! Mine drones pretty bad at anything above 70mph, but keep at 70 or below and it ain't too bad.
