Benefits of new turbo?

I am considering a new turbo for my 04.5. I was wondering what the benefits of a 62 / 65 / 12 or 13 might be over stock. I want something that will help keep things cool but also move more air. Any help is appreciated.

I don't think you would see much benefit with the limited performance mods you have. The stocker is a very efficient turbo with close to stock tuning. Now if your looking at going with a Smarty or something similar then a 62/65/12 or 13 will work nicely.Close to stock spool up with good egt's and alot more fun. This is just my opinion.I'm sure others will give theirs.

You have the right idea. The benefits will be more headroom for egts, cooler temps, more boost and with the right mods more power. You will see slightly slower spool, but It will definitely create a different feel.

How much power are you wanting to see?

Eventually I want a Smarty and small sticks. I am hoping for around 425-450hp with good egts.

My truck really runs cool when towing. I noticed more power, but it is not like having a stock tuned truck & throwing a tuner on & running a big HP tune. I did definitely notice that at WOT, the temps peak lower & stop climbing. With the stock turbo, I would get up to 1400 I'd say at WOT (I have a stick, so hot rodding on on-ramps is not exactly hard core, as soon as temps start to get warm, I do a big, ole,' slow shift).
