I just spent a couple hours searching through old posts about the Power Pup, and am starting to second guess my purchase from the classified section. First someone said the PP will not work on an 05 with the G56 tranny. Is that true? And also what is this brazilian software? Are these things that can be remedied by Bullydog or am I just out of luck for seeing the price tag of the new DL instead of the lil voice telling me to do some research? I havent received it yet so it aint installed. I'm sure leary about putting it on their after reading all that stuff. I think I'll contact Bullydog also and see what they say. TIA Sorry if im beating a dead horse, but for safety sake I had to ask! On a side note If it does work, How should I set it up with my XZT(pressure only). I read Extreme adds pressure as well, So should I stay on performance or tow with the XZT hooked up? TIA again

The power pup that I had on my 05 was pretty nice. It had good power and a nice boost in fuel mileage. I did have the brazilian software because of it though, and was unable to use my smarty because ot this. The only way to know if it has the brazilian code is to download it and find out. I made a call to bullydog and they sent me a new triple dog that downloaded the correct newest software in my truck. Since you have an 05 from what I was told by bullydog it probably has the brazilian software in it. Bullydog said if I still had the pup, they could reprogram it, but I had already sold it. I now have Smarty and am thrilled with it. If you want to try and keep your warranty I would say get a Smarty. With the power pup you are getting your warranty will be gone unless you have a very understanding dealer.

 

Thanks KKB, I guess no one else has any insight on this. Guess I screwed up, but I'll call Bullydog when the Powerpup arrives and see what they can do.

 

be careful with downloaders...whatever you do dont play with too many downloaders and too many tunes from each downloader...or you will end up like me...(read the last line of my sig!!)

If you are second guessing the Bully now, go ahead and buy something you know you will like and be content with. Don't want to risk ECM damage, trust me, i would know.

 

I have had exactly the same experience as you with corrupting my ECM by using too many different downloaders and trying too many different settings on each.

 

Yup. I remembered that you had some issues. ECM's aren't cheap!!! I've got a buddy at my dealer.....called him and he said bring it on. Within 2 hours of my truck being there, he called me and told me he could do. Gave me a remanufactured ECM at dealer cost....plus labor ofcourse. I can't complain.

 

I emailed Bullydog about my 05 and PowerPup situation, asking about compatibility with my G56 and the brazilian code stuff.

They replied with this:

The power pup will not work on the g56 tranny the other stuff is not
true out triple dog will work with that tranny see if you can trade it
for a triple dog
