BD short Shift...HELP!

Alright, I can not get the shifter apart from the old shift fork. It wiggles around, but it won't come loose or off. Looks like the other shift fork is threaded (pretty heavy thread) But it just won't budge. No instructions on how to do that. How did ya'll get ya'lls off?

I'm lost here. Do you mean the shift tower cannot be removed from the tranny?
Or the shift tower itself. Did you remove the torx screws under the rubber boot on the shift tower?

I got it. I was messing witht the wrong part. Where you unscrew the shift rod from the curved piece was where I was having trouble, I didn't realize it came loose further below it. Hard to explain, but all is well and sorry for the false alarm...

Let me know how you like the the shifting after you are done. Have been thinking about doing this also. Especially do not like the 4 to 5 shift that I have now..

The shifts are much better. I like it alot!!!! They are easier to throw into gear, or "jam". A little something to get used to at first, but it fit good and so far no complaints whatsoever. When my turbo and clutch and stuff come in I'll be ready to "test" things out...

I'll let you know MikeyB. Shouldn't be too long, but it'll be pushing (hopefully 500hp). Should be interesting, just ordered my Airdog!!!

Over the weekend I had a little issue with the gasket material not seating, and ended up with gear oil all over the underneath of the truck. So ripped it all back apart, used 2 tubes of the gasket material, and let it sit for a day. Looks like its all good now, hope it stays that way....

...SO for ya'll that do this kit, MAKE SURE THE GASKET SEATS WELL OR FLUID WILL MAKE ITS WAY THROUGH!

I like my short shift as well.Took a while to get use to it and the notchy feeling going into each gear.Still messes me up going between my stock 01 and my 05 during the week.I get use to shifting one way and then jump in the other truck and have to adjust to it.

Always got the stocker as a backup. I used different bolts than supplied, didn't like the ones they had for that very reason. It is more knotchy, but I just flick at the wrists and it goes right in. You can feel when it doesn't want to go in, can't force it til its ready...
