Banks 6 gun

Hello,

A friend of mine just installed a banks 6 gun chip with the speed loader
on an 04 cummins 600 3500 with an automatic transmission. He is upset because the truck gets terrible mileage and has less power with the six gun than it did with the edge EZ. We have tried everything we even sent the module and speedloader back to banks and had them tested. They claimed that the programming in the module was old and that thier was some kind of internal failure in it as well. So banks sent us a new module and speed loader. We installed them with no difference in performance or MPG. I have also noticed by scanning through the posts that nobody seems to have any banks products on thier trucks or even talks about them. Let me know what you guys think about this problem, any info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks TY.

still have the six gun on my truck but I put the bully dog power pup on there with the banks. It felt like to me the bully dog has as much power on the 90 hp setting as the banks does on six with the speed loader. Mileage really hasn't changed. I get about 16.5 - 17.5 no highway driving at all. I guess it varys to how hard I want to press the gas that day

We have a Banks Six-Gun on the 04 Dodge in our shop and it seems to work well. It has the newer programing and did gain about 1.5 mpg. The 4:10 gear may be part of the mileage issue and you might also look intot he reflash for mileage as well at your dealer. No idea whay may be wrong with the Six-Gun you have.

I run the six-gun also w/o the speedloader and there is a big difference in the power. Mileage seems to be about the same.

Totally happy w/ my banks(new programming) w/ speed loader. I did have an edge EZ, it sucked compared to the 6-gun. I have tested the bullydog in the 90 and 130 hp settings, it is strong on top end and my tranny slipped. If I drag raced and didn't care about reliability I'd go w/ the "cheap" BD product, but I'll stick w/ Banks. Since I only tested these three on the 03 305/555 ho, I really cant talk too much. You need to listen to the venders who can compare all the major boxes/programmers from experience, on their own trucks.

By the way, if they(banks) updated to the new program you would for sure tell the difference.

My buddy has one on his 03 and you can tell a difference but its nothing to brag about. he might have gained 50HP on the top setting. its a pretty sick truck for the HP they say it should have with the box on.

03 QC DRW 2WD 6 spd 3:73 gears, Six Gun w/speedloader, Airaid filter, Nelson muffler 4" from turbo back... on level 5 just came home from Oregon down I-5 through California to I-40 to Tulsa pulling 5th wheel travel trailer loaded! It all of the wifes stuff you understand. If my truck ran any better I would probably be in jail!!!
I love it! When you hit the mountains just make sure you are above 2000 rpm and never look back. This baby pulls like there is no load on it... No increase in engine temp, no smoke 12mpg (calculated by hand) running 75 to 85 mph. So to answer your question when I put mine on level 6 it rocks (just can't shift fast enough to get the full effect) and I love it. Going to HD clutch and Airaid intake next.

Talked to a guy today who put a Banks on his Ford. Banks said he needed to to upgrade his exhaust system since the stock Ford system is too restrictive. He's very happy w/ the Banks and larger exhaust. I'm not an expert but for those who aren't happy w/ the Banks maybe the problem is the exhaust?

Hey,

Just to let you guys know I think we found the problem. Over this last weekend the truck filled the crank case full of diesel on my buddies 04 600 cummins. He said it sounded pretty bad when he took it to the dealership, We still don't know exactly what went wrong, I'll let you know though. I think it had alot to do with the problem of no power and poor mileage.

thanks for all of you input.

Ty

Mine works great.

By friends, truck........runs like like it has something, but mine just blows his away.

Mine smokes, pulls, and get 18-19 mpg

His ever so slight puff of smoke, and get 14-15mpg 100% highway.
