Badge Relocating

Picked up a set of stainless steel fender trim and Cloudrider custom stone guards. My problem is I have to relocate the Cummins badge for the fender trim. What is the best way to do this without damage to the paint or badge. Another question is when I drill for the flaps what do you guys recommend for treating the drilled holes in the fenders...touch-up paint, silicone?

N.Johnson,

I removed mine by "sawing" them off with a piece of string. Take a 3 foot piece of string and wrap it around each hand with about 1 foot in between. Get the string started between the badge and the body, keep it tight and saw back and forth while pulling it down through. The string saws through the adhesive tape and takes them right off. Next clean the remaining adhesive off with a paper towel and some 3M Adhesive and Wax Remover. Done.
I relocated mine to about 1 1/2 inches below the RAM 2500 badge and about 4 inches back from the front of the door. Looks good, sorry no pix.
You can get the wax remover and more adhesive tape at the auto parts store.

I did mine with dental floss, otherwise the same way as Wetspirit. I had to take mine off because of the fender flares I added. Good luck.

Fishing line works too if you have any lying around.

Use the dental floss that has wax on it. I was going to use fishing line, but for some reason, the waxed dental floss gave me peice of mind. It worked real well and no trace of any scratches. When I had my 02 I debadged everything off it that way. But, make sure you let the floss do the work and not you, nice and easy. Don't go to town with it and it will come off real nice, get some sun on it too. Good luck

i used fishing line to remove all my badges and i used a "pinstriping removal wheel" and my air drill to remove the adheasive and some wd40 to clean off left over residue. i can't see any scratches in the clearcoat from using the wheel.

Heat the badge with a blow dryer first.
Its put on with double face tape. The glue will release better.

Thanks Guys, priceless info. If anybody tries the sst fender trim by TFP (manufacturer) for our rigs get the short rather than long fender trims. The long size fit lousy and interferes with the flaps. The part # for the shorts are TFI-2420S.

Are ALL the truck badges put on using adhesive tape? Ie: all the tailgate badges, & the front cummins/hemi badges?

Yes. The days of holes punched in the sheet metal are thankfully gone.
