Relocating batteries

Howdy,

Got to thinking about putting the batteries where the spare normally goes. More room in the engine compartment. Could probably make a cold air intake where the right battery is / was (have seen pictures of someone that did this)

Anyone done this? Problems, concerns? Would it just be a matter of making a mount / skid plate for the back with a couple of battery boxes and running cables back?

Thanks

Our Truck of the Month winner for June, Rob Thomas, has done that with his truck.
See here for pictures of his mods.

Re:Relocating batteries

Bought the Mr. Bobs 1700 amp battery so that now I only have 1 battery. It is a dry cell so no water and it works better in the cold because of no water. I have used it for a few months now and no problems. (knock on wood) I have a 12 vlt compressor where the old battery was on the passenge side and I might get some air horns there as well. Looking to get the belt drivin compressor later

Re:Relocating batteries

In any vehicle the worst place to put the batteries is under the hood where all the heat is, the only advantage I can think of is shorter high amp battery cable routing.

Also wondering if anybody has used two HD 6v in series like they do in heavy equipment and big trucks.
