took the tranny apart,
all the clutches or linings or however they are called are burnt up.

yeah contacted him.
He said he will get a different valve body and converter ready to go, there is no charge for either.

Thats unbelievable service!

True ....Dave's customer service is legendary and well documented on many web sites.

At the risk of accusations that I'm a 'Curmudgin'.... or worst, a Goerend basher, I have questions.
-Isn't there one thing better than excellent customer service?
-Wouldn't that be not so many people needing the follow up service in the first place?

Just seems to me too many customers have to take advantage of that excellent service, particularly at higher HP levels.
(There were four on the first page of this thread alone). I seem to hear a lot fewer initial problems from some other brands of built trannys.

Yes, sometimes things can go wrong. But if my new, expensive tranny had the problems that '12 Valve' , 'chrleb 1', 'ShaKinRedCTD' or 'paroxysym' had ..... I would expect the manufacturer to fix it, no questions asked, and I would not be raving to others about this companys product. Just one man's opinion.

We have all heard of every tranny company having problems, but not all of them have the great service that Dave has. Someone other than Dave could have installed this tranny and messed something up. How would that be Dave's fault? Dave is a great guy, I know personally since I drove 5 hours for him to install my tranny, which I would have done with any company because they know their parts. So I guess what I am trying to say is just because a tranny fails it doesn't necessarily mean the parts are inferior, there could be many other reasons.

Well I mentioned in the earlier post that I snapped the output shaft; but that was my own fault. I repaired it on my own dime (as I should) and never bothered Dave

I take pleasure in being known for great products and excellent service - but if I could only have one I'd choose the best product... 'cause then you probably wouldn't need service.

That's why I switched to Dodge back in the 90's, and never cared about the warranty or dealer issues... I didn't ever plan to use either.

Luckily, I live in the USA, where I have the freedom to choose to require - and deliver - both great products and great service!

Of course, I have to repeat the engineer's maxim:

You can have it Fast, Cheap or Good... but you can only choose two.

If anyone in the San Antonio has a built tranny by Goerend, let me know, I want to ride in it to compare the shifting to mine... sometimes I forget and will be taking a sip of coffee while slowly excelerating, when that sucker shifts.. your lap will be wide awake!!!

what i forgot to mention, the tranny was built for a 66 turbo along with some flux 2s

After already putting in the tranny parts we put in flux 4s, twins 62/s400, Nitrous, and am still waiting on a stage 3 CP3 from floor it.

The new VB and TC he is gonna send me will be modified differently to hold up...

So was not a fully built tranny (built by Dave) and installed by you?

NO! Sorry, i should have specified that!
It was installed per Daves instructions, at a local shop. there could as well something have gone wrong, it worked so good before this!

Basicly got the torque converter and the VB from dave and 2 shafts. IIRC the Intermediate is ATS, and a BD flex plate...

I would just like to add here that the whole problem didnt come from Goerend parts.

Guy at the Tranny shop told me that the bolts let loose from the oil pump... causing the mess... im not tranny expert, cant give details

Glad you are getting it taken care of. I am also glad you gave an update. I think the title of your post probably shouldn't have been what it is because it really wasn't a "Goerend" transmission, it had some Goerend parts.

anyway, I hope you are up and running soon as I hate being without my truck for any reason.
