Backfire and surging?
Last night, while enroute home from a memorial day party, my truck started surging and making a loud popping that sounded like a gasser backfiring.
We pulled over, and I pulled the VA off of it because I was intoxicated, and that was the easiest box to get off. I pulled it off, and everythig seemed to work fine.
What would make it backfire like that, and then return to normal?
I haven't had a chance to put the VA back on to se if it works better now.

I don't know. I am putting a fuel pressure gauge on it this week, so I will know more then but what really has me wondering is the backfire sound it made.

Based on the other problem you had the other day I would look at the wiring harness of the VA module really good. The module could also be failing? A backfire can easily happen if the injection cycles get messed up.
