Anyone here a turbo expert?

got a question over in 3rd gen engine - but I have no answers yet. Thought maybe someone here (that hasnt seen the thread over there) could help me a little quicker. do 03-04 stock turbos interchange with an 04.5 and up. Never fooled with stock turbos enough to know if there is any difference.

physically they can interchange, but the only problem would be the 04.5-up turbo has an electronic wastegate. if you are looking for a better turbo, you're gonna need to look bigger.

the 03-04 turbos are a little smaller and runs less boost, but super fast spoolup.

not looking to interchange -looking to sell one to a guy with an 04.5. and he wanted it fast. Sounds like he cant use what I got. Any chance of 'making' it work?

couldn't you get that little dummy plug for the electronic wastegate, and it would work?

You could, but why would you downsize turbos? I understand he could use it but let him know that he is taking a step backward, he will lose a little power. He would be better off finding one from a like year or upgrading to a more effecient one. JMHO
