Another wheel and tire thread

Well I'm still on my quest for the right wheel and tire. I've had both nitto terra grapplers ( 325/60/18) and toyo open country M/Ts ( 33/12.50/18) they were both really good tires. I just want a little different look this time. I will go with a 20" wheel and a 6' lift, but I'm not sure if I want the 36" Mickey Thompson MTZ or the 37" nitto mud grappler. The Mickey Thompson is 15.50" wide and the Nitto is 13.50" wide. I know red rock posted on another thread that his tires rubbed just a little.( 36" Mickey Thompson's) The Nitto terra grapplers I had also rubbed the inside fender well just a little and I could live with that because they looked good. What I don't know is if the 37/13.50/20 Nitto Mud Grapplers rub at all. I think that may be what crashcade has and it looks really good to. red rock how bad do your tires rub? and if anyone knows anything about the Nitto's input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am running the Nitto Mud Grapplers 37x13.5x20. My rim is a 20x10 with a 4.5" backspacing. I have a 2" spacer on top of my 6" lift and it clears just fine. I would think that with just a 6" that those might rub the back of the front fender on lockout turning. I had a 38x15x17 on a 17x10 with 4.5 backspacing and those clobered my fenders. See if you can test fit them at your local rim and tire dealer to see what will work best once you have your lift. I think Hognutz is running a 37x13.5x22 on his 6" lift I do not think he has any clearance problems, but I am not sure what his rim specs are. I have pics in my gallery. Hope this helps a little bit.

I will add one other thing about the Nitto Mud Grapplers. They are about as noisey as a set of 44" swamper Boggers. They have a very unique look to them and I would probably by another set of them for sand and show use but for daily driving and road trips I think I would rather run the Toyo Open Country M/T. I have built a few trucks running the Toyo M/T's and I love them. They are still some what aggressive, but handle the snow a lot better than the Nittos and also can handle the sand and mud. They are also very quiet on road compared to the Nittos.

I saw those pics, but he must have a bunch of stuff cut in order to make them fit... It looks good, but that is a lot of tire in the wheel well.

my gallery has 37's on 22's with a 6" lift. the wheels are 9.5 wide. I forget the exact backspacing but you could find it out online. the only rubbing I have is on the control arm at full lock. I just have not welded stops on yet. it does not really affect turning radius it the sidelug just barley get it.

I would recomend the toyo's. Best all around tire I have ever had. I really like the way the mud grapplers look but they are going to be noiser, etc. when I was younger I like the aggressive look and would deal with the issues. now I will only run a tire like that off road.

I now what you mean about wanting something different though. everbody has the toyo's now.

I like both pair the Nittos only lasted about 28,000 miles but that had alot to do with me getting my Dr. P box shortly after I bought the tires. I still have the toyo's. I've put about 15'000 on them and still have over half of the original tread. I would go with the Toyo if you drive in the snow. I don't have much experience driving in the snow here in Texas but the toyo's are way better in the mud.
