Another stupid tire thread

I have to get some new shoes for my truck. I have my brand and size picked out BFG All Terrains 285/70/17. I tow daily and need to keep my truck low. I also like to go wheeling occasionaly and I know these tires do well at that(I've had 3 sets now)! 40k mileage warranty is a big plus also!! (They will eat a couple no doubt)

The best price I can find is $207.00 ea and I will get 5 (spare).

If I use my credit card I get an additional 10% off bringing the total to $931.50. Free shipping!

Can anyone beat that price by a wide margin? Warranty and free flat repair included?

Rick

I would just shop around - Discount Tire, etc. That price sounds about right.

My new BFG All-Terrain K/Os costed $918.00 (inlcuding tax & install) - I sold my old Michelins for $300 + $50 Rebate from BFG =
$568.00 Grand Total for a set of new tires

We get snow up here and the reports I read about Michelin in the snow made me get better tires. The Michelin are good for longevity and towing on dry roads. Once rain and especially snow hit, they get pretty bad. The Michelins are also French

BFG ATs seem to be offered in load range E in the 265/70 17, and regardless of being better suited for towing and such such sizes don't seem fashionable for the well dressed truck on the roadway..

Well I guess I'm more into function than fashion!! I'm keeping the stock rims also. I'm installing stock style mud flaps and eventually airbags.

My objective is to have a very stock looking, very functional truck. In doing so I spend funds on go power rather than show power.

If you have a Discount tire nearby, I would take that price to them and see if they will match it. Then they can do your free flat repair, free rotations for you. They probably will do it anyway, but I try to give them my business since I go see them every 5k miles or so.

I got Nitto Terra Grappler All Terrains in 285/70R/17 LOAD RANGE E last week. These tires are rated at 3,750lbs @ 80 PSI. I got them for $832.00 out the door at Discount Tire. That includes lifetime rotation, balancing and road hazzard repair. For about $120.00 you can get a full replacement warranty, I didn't opt for that.

I towed with them this weekend for the first time and they felt very good. I'm towing a large 5ver with my truck. If your towing alot I would get the Load Range E's. I had 315/70R/17s prior to the Nittos and I think I made the right choice changing tires.

Check Costco, they carry BFG and recently had a discount coupon.

Finally got them yesterday!

WOW what a difference in ride quality, handeling and very low road noise to boot!!

Of course I knew this going in as this is my 4th set on varied vehicles.

The BFG's just make the whole truck more balanced and stable. Plus it rides like a Cadillac now and that is hard to do in a one ton shortbed!!
