Like it says. Do you change the bypass filter w/each oil change?
Thanx.

I do... but only because I don't like the quart of dirty oil going through the system. The filters are good for 40k+ miles under normal conditions.

Every other will do it. I change my oil every 5-7k and bypass every other. No issues

Your changing it way too much, I change my Amsoil every 30K, change my Oil every 15K, and my stock filters every 7500. My oil analysis at 15K shows it's good for another 7-10K, but I know I'm dumping alot of soot in there, so I change at 15K

My oil analysis dictates a 5-7K oil change due to high soot, so not everyone will be able to go 30K.

I change bypass every other oil change like Amsoil recomends.

I change mine every other oil change. I change the oil and stock filter every 7500 miles, the bypass evry 15K. I am running the Valvoline Premium Blue. My oil analysis is coming back with good results, says I could go longer. I send in a sample every oil change.

I know this is an older thread but do I need to worry about the quart or so in the filter, could I drain the filter and poor new in without disturbing whats on the filter element? Thanks. At 7600 and needing to change soon.

I used fleetguard myself. Might start my truck after filling it up and pull a quart out from the filter just to get it all and top off. I did an oil analysis and my last showed a little high on copper and iron, nothing catastrophic and the TBN was still good. Everything else was top notch, no fuel, no coolant, silicon, etc. I seriously think the new emissions friendly oils are crap. Hoping I can find some CI+ somewhere.

If it's a BMK-11, you could probably run that filter until it plugs...which would be a long time....because, what was at the beginning of the Bypass setup before you installed it? A plug.
Some believe that a filter gets more efficient the longer it's run...not sure if I believe that or not.
I have a BMK-11 myself, and I run the return into the valve cover. It's easy to check if it's still flowing, as well, the filter will be warm on the bottom if ti's good. I'm gonna keep running mine until I see reason to change it. Those EABP's aren't cheap.
