Amsoil Bypass

I bought an Amsoil bypass (single filter) for my sig truck and I am wondering how long you guys recommend on oil changes once it is installed? Any tips on installing it? Thanks.

The only TRUE way to know how long you can or should go between oil changes is with an Oil Analysis from someone like Blackstone.

With that said, I also use the Amsoil bypass filtration and, I use Valvoline Premium blue 15-40 oil and go 10k miles on oil and filter and 20k miles on the bypass filter.

I go more than 10K miles between oil and filter changes- determined by UOA. Same valvoline oil. No additional filters.

I would think with a bypass filter you should go 15-20K between oil changes. Depending on how you use your truck, of course.

True. My UOA says I can go farther but it's hard for me to do it. It's one of those "In my mind it's wrong" kind of things! I may try 15k this change and do another UOA since this is also my second oil change on the bypass filter.

So does the analysis tell you or give you a reasonableness to know when to change the oil or is it strictly a report of scientific findings or oil particles? Thx

If you get the oil fill cap from Amsoil and run your return line to that, it is easy to get an oil sample.
