Amount of clearance behind quad cab rear seat?

I found some 10 and 12 inch subwoofers which only require 2 1/2 to 3 inches of mounting depth. If these would fit behind the seat, up against the back wall of the cab, on my 2004 2500 Quad Cab -- it would allow me to keep all of my under seat storage. These speakers are so shallow I guess they can even be mounted in a tailgate!

Anyway, I know guys are mounting amps on the back wall. Which tells me there must be 2 1/2 to 3 inches of clearance or more.

I'm hoping someone might be able to save me the effort (and time) of tearing the back seat out to obtain a measurement before I order these speakers.

Can someone please tell me how much clearance (an actual measurement) exists behind the back seat? How many inches are we talking about?

Thanks!

I cant see fitting any speakers back there, it is really tight unless you incorporated it into the seat back itself.

You can do it if you don't mind removing the insulation. Probably get you 3-3.5" at most, don't forget to add 3/4" for the box material.

Thanks for the help guys.

The specs on the speakers (I just looked them up again) say 2.2 inches mounting depth.

Maybe tomorrow I can pull that seat out and see what I'd be dealing with.
