air in fuel filter. is it necesary
air in fuel filter. is it necesary
tried this in another thread but wasnt getting answers.
need a lp and stuck between a raptor or airdog.
I read this in another thread for the reasoning behind the air in fuel filter.
This is not a quote, and the numbers/quantities are not correct, but you will get the general idea.
If everytime the injector cycles, it sprays one cc of fuel. If in that 1cc of fuel, you have trapped air that takes up 30% of the 1cc you now only have .70cc of fuel sprayed, thus you have just lost 30% of your potential power output.
That sounded great to me and I was more or less sold.
Then I was thinking about how almost everyone with performance upgrades blows a little to a ton of black smoke, and most really enjoy doing that.
Is'nt black smoke unburnt fuel?
So, is it necesary to make sure that there is no or very little air in the fuel, since we are pumping way to much of it into the combustion chamber thats not fully burning anyway.
It was mentioned that air in fuel may wear the injector. Could someone explain that please?

Yo Ace,
It says that it is not a quote, nor are the numbers/quantities correct.
It is used as an example (maybe oversimplifed, then again maybe not) to explain the reasoning behind an air in fuel filter.

I know. It's just that I've been involved with some air entrainment discussions, and feeling a bit snippity!
