Air box or not

I'm ready to do some kind of air filter/box upgrade.

Just not sure wich one to do????

Help this should be easy, but it is making me nuttttts!

I used a K&N on my 01,never a problem. But I never sampled my oil.

My 05 so far is doing fine with the stock paper, Maybe a 10o/o-15o/o pull on the filter minder.

Current posts are makinkg me cautious.

I use my truck for work about 120 mi. a day.
About 1/3 of my miles are off road in the dry Nevada dessert.

I have a 38' 5th wheel, and it will get towed shortly

?????

Bahf ,no pertection from mud water (paper filter)
K&N drop in, Dirt in my oil
Afe ???? Same as K&N

Some say all flow worse than stock.

Some say they lost power and milage when changing from stock.

I want to figgure this out so I can move on to other things(EXAUST)

BHAF with a Water Repellant Outerwears Cover. Should protect against splashes, but not submerging. A pic of mine is in my gallery.

We also live in dry dusty place with a lot of farming in the area, plenty of air born fine dust to test the air filter. The Scotty with 2-satge foam filter is working very well for use, with no evidence of any dirt getting past the filter. Also the foam filter has better performance in the Scotty, than the cotton gauze filters did. If you are going with an after market air intake, go with Scotty.

I have the Airaid with MIT and I love it. As you can see from my signature I have straight pipes and I have gained from stock 18.4 mpg to currently 20.3 mpg on highway. The filter has 7 layers as well. Just some food for thought!

I really like it...and someone on here once told me ...pick one and be happy with it. Do the research and try it out....

Good luck ...all these modifications can drive you mad ...or make you an addict..lol...

As mentioned there are a few choices. Since I am so bias towards my product, many people will think its a commercial.

If you are not adding much power or not towing often, the BHAF is a great way to go. If you want the best EGT reduction, dual layer foam filtration, quick cooldown and an air unit that SUCKS COOOooOOoooOoOooooooooL AIR then the Scotty might be just what you need.

Highest level of silicon so far on these filters is 7ppm. Excellent filtration!

Scotty
