Accutemp Adapter - Zero Readings....

Anyone have problems with there Accutemp adapter?

I can't get mine to read anything, I've towed several times now and gauge stays on 100. Wiring is good, continuity ok. Verified washer placement also with Quadzilla Recon temp gauge.

Does a person have to pour fluid in the hole so the aluminum transfers heat to the sensor?

My adapter (shop built of Brass) works fine. I did use "Heat Sink Grease" to fill the opening before screwing in the sensor but I'm not certain that it was/is required.

At what speeds, and what kind of driving are you seeing 100 degrees? When I had one it would drop down to 100 any time the converter was locked. Now that I'm in line, I see 160 with the converter locked.

If you have a one wire gauge you probably need a ground wire to it to read. If its a 2 wire you have a problem somewhere.

100 degrees is what most gauges read when shut off or just started up. He has more than likely a ground problem.

Btw: This is for my 06 Auto.

Overall I'm seeing it all the time, any speeds, towing skidsteer or empty.

I'll try the ground wire thing and let you all know, I emailed Geno's, they don't have a clue.

The clamp and aluminum are hot to the touch, so you would think temp transfer would be ok.

Yes, its a one wire trans sender.

I emailed quad to make sure the washer/nut placement was correct also, and it was.

You would think ground would be fine overall, but maybe not.
Thanks guys.

call terry thain at moonlight diesel he's the one that makes them, i used to work for him and we would put antisieze in the groove that attaches to the line, but it sounds like a sender problem. also are you sure your on the hot line.

Turned out to be a ground issue. I ran an alligator clamp from the frame to the thread part of the sensor, it immediately read ok.

So I pulled everything out. Cleaned everything with brake cleaner.
I did put antiseize in the thread and between the line and accutemp.

I'm guessing the antiseize doesn't conduct dc current well.

This is problably just an issue for those that have 1 wire temp sensors.

Anyways, works great now, thanks for all the helpful insight
