600-650hp single turbo????
Ok all, I have been tossing the thought of putting a single turbo on my truck that will support 600-650hp, drive daily and tow, while keeping egts managable while towing and racing. Is there such a turbo. Looks like the the front runner is a GT4094R....... What do you guys think.......I would like to beable to make a decision on a single turbo at the end of this thread...... So lets get some good info and let me know your suggestions...

If you are willing to spend the extra funds on a ball bearing turbo, then by all means that is what I would do. However for a more common turbo I would do something like an HTT 64/71/13!

I gota ask why???? you got twins already, youre takin a step back.
I would get at least a 66mm turbo, but if it was my truck and I had the cash I would run a BB turbo, if not Id get a k31. I had an SPS 66 and it was a good turbo, but if it wouldnt keep my 550ish hp cool Id hate to see it at 650.

Not a step backwards, just need to stay in a certain class when it comes to dyno and pull events, which looks like where this truck is headed. Figured if i sold the R-700 set and II Stage 2 pump I could get a Stage 3 pump, Single Turbo, Valve springs and rocker arms and still make 600-650hp.

Man after all that work to get you into the R700s Just kidding. You will definately notice a difference in the towing performance from the twins to a single.

Well, I think you bumped your head, but I can see where you are going if you are stuck with a single turbo... there is no panacea for turbos... you know support 6000 hp on #2 alone and spool faster than my nephew's toy top... The A5k was invented for just such an application but is a bear to tow with... and can't really tow very heavy with the stix needed for 650. The 4094 sure enough moves as much air as a silver bullet and you can tow really well with it too... but 650 is asking too much.
I have no experience with this, but I suppose I'd tell you the best thing would be a gt4202r and you can get a small wastegated EH for it too. Driveability, I'd guess would be similar to a silver bullet or A5k at the worst. It would certainly support the 650hp (about 92-93 lbs/min of air) I don't think towing would be in the cards though.

I can't help but wonder what is going through your mind. If,,,, I had twins a single turbo would be the last thing I would be thinking of. Can't pull in that class....Oh Well.
