51" Nelson!! AWESOME

I installed a 4" MBRP exhaust system a few months ago great system and helped with the EGT's alot but the sound was very questionable?? Alot of guys are saying the 04.5's and up have a bit of a funny sound to them and I found out first hand, I had so many people saying what the hell is that?? Meaning the noise coming out of the tailpipe. Well I got sick of how obnoxiously loud it was and did some homework and with your guys help got my hands on a 51" Nelson and man what a difference seems to have the same power but so much quiter, so Impressed. These generation 5.9's are so impressive with how quite the motors are for a diesel and I really like that so I decided keep it quite and you can only here the turbo even better now anyway, even through the exhaust. I recommend to anyone defeinetly if you want quite but still good flow 100%. Anyone want sound clips?? I can post those this weekend if anyone's interested.

Just cut the clamp off that holds the MBRP muffler to the tailpipe and left the front one on and cut the MBRP pipe about 20" ahead of where the front clamp is and BOOM, you can bolt the 51" Nelson right in position the only part you need a muffler shop for is to weld new hangers on the Nelson and supply two 4" clamps. I will take pics and supply a video with the sound on Monday, this post will reapear so watch for it.

Will this fit on the stock 4" exhaust or is there a way to make it fit? I started another thread about budget exhaust setups and was just wondering since everyone really likes these things?

You can make any muffler fit with reducers. They're about $15 each at big rig shops.

I thought my 51" sounded like a trashcan on my 03 so I stuffed it with fiberglass, wrapped it with another 1" of fg and lagged it with sheetmetal. It sounded terrific - way deep tone and actually was as quiet as stock. Then I changed turbos and it got loud again and now has some 2k drone. Craig

I would love to hear what it sounds like. My MBRP muffler is okay but when I pull the 5th wheel it is way to loud. I am going to have to quite my exhaust down soon but do want to keep my EGT's down while towing.
