5" straight exhaust?

I am looking for a 5" straight exhaust at a good price but good quality. Where did you get yours. There are some on Ebay for $380 from Expandit. I am going to try the aero muffler first. What is the difference between resonated and non resonated on those aero mufflers. Looking for the deepest tone I can find.

ShopDiesel.com has 5 inch turbo back kits for $310 w/out muffler. I believe they're the same kit as the Expandit kits. I will be ordering this kit myself sometime soon and adding a Donaldson muffler...

As far as Aero mufflers go...I had the Aero 4040 non-resonated version for a while and it sounded like a straight pipe to me except with a little bit different "tone". Lots of drone in the cab too, especially when towing...

It had to go...

That is the only thing that concerns me. Not sure if the 5" resonated would reduce drone. The 51" Donaldson was my top choice but I have not heard it. I have the 41" nelson and it is a little too raspy so I am going to try the 5"

just run the straight pipe. its not to loud in the cab. if you tow more than 10k on a regular basis, then i would consider a muffler of some sorts becuase it does have some drone. unloaded its not really there!

X2 on the shopdiesel kit. its awesome, cheap and great customer service

I also have the shopdiesel kit on my truck was great price and fast shipping. Was an Expandit kit that I recieved from them. The only drone I have is from 50-55 going into OD and the torque convertor locking up. Is quieter than the 4" w/muffler I had on before.

I love my 51" Donaldson even with just the 4". It has an awesome deep mellow tone to it. From what I'm told its even deeper with the 5" and no drone at all.

I do wish it was somewhat louder from time to time which is what I'm hoping will happen when I go to 5"

I don't tow much and the drone is enough to get to me, and that is with the muffler. Notice it once I'm over 70 mph, the short gears on the 6 speed probably making the drone show up sooner than if I had the auto....

it all in what you like..if your expecting cadillac quiet then you definitly want a muffler..if you dont mind a little drone at 65 then straight pipe is for you..all i can say is try it n if you dont like it its not a big deal to put a muffler on

I am going to order the shopdiesel kit and run it staight for a bit. If I tow my brothers backhoe much then I may need to add a muffler. I think I will go with the 51' Donaldson and hopefully it is not raspy like my 41" Nelson on my current 4" exhaust.
