5" exhaust

I'am planning on a AFE stage II intake and the EDGE juice, but need some help deciding on which route to go with my exhaust. It was a no brainer on my last truck go from 3.5" to 4", but this new truck already has 4" exhaust and I've seen some kits for it that are 5". Are these overkill? Should I just buy a high flow muffler for my stock system? and maybe dump the cat?

marc03,

Actually your 03 has a 3.5 inch to a 4.0 inch tail pipe and inside of the muffler it gets as small as 2.5 inches etc. The 2004.5 + have a 4 inch tubes and the same muffler as your 2003 does. 5 inch is cool and such and sounds strong if you like that anyway, some of our customers are after quiet some after volume etc. I would reccomend our 4 inch MBRP system, it's available in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless in singles and duals. The system has 100% welded hangers that just pop back in tothe stock factory hangers, bolts on and is very efficient in dropping EGT's and helping the turbo spool up faster too! It will support up to 500RWHP too! Call us if you have any questions etc we'll be glad to help you.

what would be the benifit of doing a whole system if my 2004.5's tubing is already 4"? wold'nt just replacing my muffler do the same thing? Does MBRP make a turbo back exhaust for 2004.5 trucks?

oh. Already have the 4" mbrp system on my 03. So, just replacing the muffler would be fine on my 04.5 then it would be true 4" muffler and tubing.

marc03,

Yep my mistake thought we were working on an 03! We have the MBRP performance replacement muffler available for the 2004.5+ Dodges, 409 stainless has welded hangers and just bolts right on, we also have aluminized and 409 SS cat test pipes if you want to open it up all the way etc. Call us if you have any questions etc.

Exhaust

One of the best ways to go for exhaust on the 04.5 is to cut the pipe at the outlet tot he Cat and install an Aeroturbine 4040L with an off-set pipe to the factory tail pipe. 4" is plenty big enough and this kit will really help to lower EGTs and sounds great. You can see more about this here http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/exhaust2 4040L-SS cat back kit is the most popular. We can also help with the Edge Juice with Attitude and Scotty air intakes.
