4.4/level 9, why would my motor want a 62/14 over the stocker?
Hello. Like it says. I am running the 4.4/level 9 all the time. Why would this make a stock turbo hard on my motor? Is it true my motor would be happier with a 62/14?
Thanx.

Drive pressure you are exceeding the limits of the stock turbo by oooh a mile!!! The 62/14 will exhale a lot better...
The stock turbo is about a 9 cm housing. Even with the wastegate, it won't compare to a 14 cm housing with a wastegate. The exhaust pinwheel on the 62/14 is bigger also. This will allow for better flow and control the exhaust pressure better.
read my signiture, my new silver 62 made a huge difference along with an ats exhaust manifold and arc flow. i installed a fass at the same time so i dont know how much each mod made a difference but i have quicker spool up it seams to me. made the exhaust a much deeper tone also
Now I will sound really stupid. So the passage from on the exhaust side of the turbo, that does the spinning of the whole shaft, has more volume?
Thanx guys. I am still learning on these babies.

Yep, the bigger housing lets the exhaust escape easier, which lowers the drive pressure between the motor and the turbo. The only poblem is with a larger exhaust housing, the exhaust is moving slower as it passes by the turbine, this makes for a slower spool up.
That was quality info for my current state of turbo knowledge. Thanx.
