2005 Add Ons...

Hi guys, I'm happy to report that I've made the plunge and ordered a 05 3500 Quad Cab, Manual, Dually, 4x2. I've begun shopping for a new exhaust and air intake but note that in virtually all catalogs and websites they don't yett list products for the 05's. Does anybody know if the 04 products will work on the 05?

Also, do us anybody if you can leave the tailgate on while towing a fifth wheel?

I tow with my origional tailgate. Mine's a 3500 SWB. Have room to drop the gate while hooked. Don't think there has been very many changes between the 04.5 and the 05, so most hardware should work.

I tow with the tailgate attached. The only thing you must remember is to close it and make sure it is closed prior to taking off.
The 05 and 04 are the same except for the torque rating 610 for the 05 & 600 for the 04.5

Bully dog

I found this a little strange, but yesterday my local dealer for Bullydog told me that the downloader for the 03, 04, and 04.5 were the same and that the '05 was different and not yet available. There must be something a little different than what was suspected in early threads.

I did speak to AFE today and they said that their air intake kit, #54-10631, will work for the 05's....

Still checking on the exhaust system. "Should work" gives me the ******...!

I have a 2005 and the exhaust is 4" end to end - I wouldn't waste money on the exhaust. I installed the AFE airbox and down tube - quality product, but I felt the downtube was too loud for me, so I put the stock tube back on.

Your correct,...the '04 doesn't have the cat. The 04.5 does.

Hey kwb, Curious to know why you wouldn't waste money on the exhaust. The literature says that it adds more hp and torque...

Because it already has a 4" exhaust end to end (at least on the 05), you might gain a little by replacing the muffler... but I doubt it would be enough to notice
