10 ply 35" tires (17" rims)
Okay, so I bought some chrome H2's and some extra caps (thanks TCR) but the 315 BFG's on them are all over the place, the spare is new, 1 is in good shape, 2 half worn and one has about ¼ left. I guess the H2 guy didn't rotate them at all....
So now I'm thinking of getting rid of them and just getting some new tires.
I'm looking for a 10 ply rated (E) all terrain tire that is 35" tall. Toyo makes a 325 but it's only D rated and I also wouldn't mind something a little narrower.
Toyo also has a 285/75 but it's only an inch taller than the 285 coopers I have now.
Any suggestions?

Yeah, I saw the vortac's while clicking around the Interco site, how long you had them for?

Yikes!
I asked for a quote on some 10 ply 25's from the local 4x4 place, he told me all they had was Toyo MT's at $429 each!?!?
So all in with our taxes and enviromental fees that would be close to $2000....
... might be time to rething this a little.

Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip tires are also available in size 35X12.50R17/E which are 10 ply tires with a load rating of 3640 lbs. I have them on my my '98 12 valve in a 36" size and have gotten 40000 miles out of them. You have to keep on top of tire pressures and rotate them often but I like them. I will be getting another set in the spring. -Glen

I was looking at the Vortrac's by Interco, they're $376 up here. I was thinking an all terrain was all I really need and would last longer but I'm not sure..?

If you read a thousand or so pages of the CFR's in regard to tire testing you will understand that that doe snot mean squat. It governs the maximum inflation pressure the tire is tested USING THE STATED LOAD RATING.
A 3600 lb load rated D index tire kicks the tail out of a 3200 lb load rated E index tire ALL DAY LONG!
Either tire is expected to perform to the same standards (longevity, toughness, etc) at the rate load and the maximum inflation pressure which is governed by the load index.
I have HUNDREDS of thousands miles towing and hauling at huge GVWR and GCVR's on single tire rear axles with high load rated "measly" D tires with NEVER a flat or tread, sidewall, belt seperation and experienced excellent wear (50k plus out of aggressive AT's and MT's) following the obvious stated logic.

Okay, sounds like you know way more about the ratings thing than I do and I apppreciate the lesson I'm getting here.
All I know is my Cooper ATR's are only D rated, I had 2 flats in 6 months on the highway going about 60 mph, pulled over right away and both times the tire's sidewalls were shot and needed to be replaced. That's why I'm looking for an E rated this time.
The 315x12.5-17 D rated Pro Comp XT AT has a load capacity of 3000 pounds, the 315-x12.5-18 comes in an E and is good for 3415 pounds at problably more pressure.
If you had one tire D rated and the exact same tire E rated, wouldn't the E rated tire be built stronger, more belts or plies or something or is it just the same tire with more air in it?

I'm hearing just the opposite that people definately feels a difference in a a E rated and D rated tire. I'm in the same boat at the OP I really like the Toyo M/T's but a 400 a pop they are hard to swallow.
As for the E vs D stuff, the load index is one factor, definately get a tire with a load index that can carry what your looking for, but I've heard that the E will ride stiffer and won't move around as much as you. I tow a trailer, on the scale lasy year truck was 9500, trailer 4500 pounds but we want to get a bigger trailer soon.
