'06 jake brake
'06 jake brake
Any of you guys have one on an auto? Does it really work that good? I've had exhaust brakes on a 6 speed before and that was great, I'm just not sure it would do that much ( $1700.00 worth ) with an auto.
Thanks for any first hand opinions,

I love mine with the auto, I will never tow again without one. Now mines an 04 and I did some upgrading to the TC also but I think the effect is still the same so long as the TC can stay locked up!!!!

I wouldn't have it any other way!
Even if you tow light & infrequent. You can't put a price on that one time you had to get on the factory brakes too much coming down a hill & had to use the emergency ramp or got in an accident!
Now, back to reality....
I leave mine on all the time: City/Fwy/empty/loaded.
Yes, I like the sound of the jake in the cab (like a real jake), but outside, it sounds like a huge air leak.
Effective...Oh, YEAH!
Going down hill, the cruise control will use the jake to slow the truck down to the speed setpoint! 1st, it will turn off fuel, then if the truck is still going too fast, it will engage the jake.
BTW...I've had EGT up about 800-1000 on a freeway offramp. By the time I got to the light, EGT's were down to ~500! Who needs a cool down timer! Ok, so the EGT's got back up to 1000 & by the time I got to the house they were back to ~500, but in <1 minute, they were cooled down to 350-400!
Can't beat it! Best $1700 I ever spent!
BTW...Check out the Vent Relocation kit. Best $35 ever spent. Fillup take ~10 minutes and you gain about 5 gallons of fuel capacity! I used to spend ~20 minutes filling up to the brim, i.e. slow filling the last 5-6 gallons!
