06 headlights!

Has anyone tried to take the headlights apart on an 06 and paint the insides to match body color or black out like night-runner?

I don't think they actually tried??? I think his tech just said it looks like it cant be done
I told him to send his old stock lights to me and I would try it but he never took me up on it.

it has to be possible because if the light was put together from two pieces it should come apart in two pieces. i think if you find the right place to unclip something or unscrew something that it is possible(worse case unglue and then reglue). i will try tomorrow and then do a tech write up.

The problem is that the way the assembly is glued and sealed together, it really is impossible. The reason is that the seal is so strong, it is stronger than the surrounding plastic so that when you try to get it apart it is going to break, but not at the seal, so you will have ruined your lights. Also, no one knows how they are sealed and so the subsequent re-seal would end up being much less effective and you would have condensation and moisture in the light all the time. We just need to wait until someone makes a NEW headlight like they have for the '03-'05s.

The tech did not think that would be sufficient.

Please do; they are the one sore spot (because of the orange) on Optimus.
