04.5 motor blown
WOW! Seems like everytime the poor guy asked a question some smart edited by admin has to throw a stupid comment in that doesnt help the guy out at all! I know how you feel man, I've been there! I would have to say that it is proably a melted piston.

yep, dropped valve seat or melted piston!! the ppe uses really agressive timing, added too the edges agressive timing and you have problems!!! Same idea as stacking a pressure box with a programmer that adds pressure, and then finding out an injector cracked or the relief valve let go. Unfortunatly nobody informed you of the consequences or even the possibilities of such a stack, and now your stranded!!!
Jon.
Jon.
thanks man obviously you've asked a question only to have comments that don't help and show the intellect of a few people on this site. you say you've been there. have you done some bad damage to your motor?

ah okay thanks i thought that was ok. not trying to offend people....say does anybody else know anything about the boxes i stacked and if it helped to nuke my motor.
the juice seems to have some weird occurences of blowing motors when stacked with crazy larry. I've read about a few of those instances. Must be something to do with how it adds timing.
the PPE hot revs to 3700rpm. This should never be done with stock valve springs IMO.

Your truck didn't come with any defects. You modded it and bought a new engine.
Do you want to know what happened to your truck to prevent it from happening again? If so, why NOW after the damage is done-- instead of earlier when it could have been averted?
I probably shouldn't care-- it's not my money that's going up in smoke, right?
But I hate to see people go nuts bombing a truck without a clear understanding of the pros and cons of doing so.
So I'm forced to conclude that either:
1) You knew the potential consequences of running the product combination you have, and decided you could live with it, or
2) You didn't know the potential consequences, and proceeded in ignorance.
If the former, then no biggie-- you knew you were playing with fire, and this time you rolled the dice and lost. Fine-- lotsa fellas here have done the same thing and have the wallet pain to prove it.
If the latter, then you made a bad decision. It's one thing to come in saying "Hey guys, I gambled and lost."
It's another thing to say "did my mods cause this?" This indicates that you didn't really understand what modding can do to a truck, or exactly what your mods are capable of. Hence, you spent money when what you should have spent was time-- on websites like this one, making sure you fully understand the pros and cons of the various bombs you were considering.
You wind your truck up way past redline, dump all kinds of various computer boxes at it, and operate it WELL outside any design parameters, then want to play all ignorant and innocent when something goes wrong? Ignorant, perhaps-- but not innocent, if only because of not performing the due diligence.
That said, when this happens you do like everyone else would-- take your lumps, dust yourself off, and learn from the experience. (and in this case, write a check, too).
As the saying goes, good judgement comes from experience-- which comes from bad judgement.
Don't be all defensive-- just admit you had bad judgment and get on with it.
We've all had our bad judgment episodes-- just ask around and we'll all tell you ours
