When is it time to lemon law my truck?
When is it time to lemon law my truck?
Got my new 07 6.7 and nothing but problems, when is enough enough?
Got it on 6/25/07, Its been in the shop for a total of 18 days...engine has rapping noise (sounds internal and they can here it), catylst 100%, new DPF, been reflashed , light throttle stumble, EGR temp sensor.
As of today 9/1/07 it still has rap, light throttle stumble, and check engine light is back on, all this in just over 2 months with only 4200 miles on it. Although chrysler has given me loaner car for all the down time it isnt enough,
something needs to be done, dodge, cummins, chrysler.......whoever.....when is it time to start lemon law proceedings? Please advise.... and thanks for listening to me vent

keep track of all paperwork and how long it's been in the dealer as apposed to in your possession. i believe if there is a problem they can't fix within three attempts they will have to lemon law it. i don't know if this is completly accurate. googling lemon law is a good start.
I wish you the best with lemon law. I had nothing but problems with the dealership and DC about trying to lemon my truck. They even gave my attorney a bunch of crap. I'm still working it again since my back window is leaking for the 3rd time. They have already put 2 new windows in. Maybe with this change of CEO it might go better but I doubt it. Lets see what happens.

It is ALL determined by paperwork. DC has no way to fight the law on these cases if you meet and can prove you have met the critera needed to have it lemon lawed.
Work and be diligent on keeping a good paper trail !!

OK !, few comments here. It sommewhat depends on what state you are in for how or if covered by Lemon laws. Do you research and see what is required for your state. You are low enough millage it shouldn't be a problem, you just need to get all your ducks in a row so to speak. If you are in Michigan they have a real gotcha for ya. Wether an employee or not if you buy under any type of employee pricing plan when you sign your papers they include an extra piece of paper you have to sign, and believe me you are not informed what it is, but it is a biinding arbitration form which waves your lemon law rights and leaves you at the mercy of DC's offers. Being that it is binding you get one offer, take it or leave it, thats all. I went thru that with my 04.5 and having almost 70000 miles was advised that probably best offer I would get was 2-4000 and/or an expensive amount of depreciation towards a trade. Offer was my 04 for an 07, they would move all equipment 5th wheel hitch, running boards, spray in bed liner. They would take my 04.5 and $15000 and they would give me an 07. Figured out to be a lotta dollars per mile so I made a better deal on my own and told them to shove it. Oh, as an aside, it took over 9 months for a hearing to be set. They would not reimburse me for any outside expenses like hotel, food etc when we broke down on the road and were stranded and no rental reimbursment. If I had taken their deal my payments would have gone up over $200 per month and I couldn't afford the truck. Just a FYI, they don't give anything away. Your best bet if thinking Lemon is to find a good attorney and you will lose a few bucks paying him out of what ever settlement you can get.
Try to get them to voluntaraly .emon it or take it back or what ever, just get you a new working truck and think you have had it too long but didn't they have some type of customer satisfaction 30 day warranty or??? just random thoughts......
Good luck...Don

I have the same loud tick in the engine that is definitely noticeable and it started with only 800 miles on my truck. It has been in the dealership for a total of four days and they have thrown a bunch of parts at it but the noise is still there and is louder than before. I now have close to 2000 miles on truck and its been over a month since I first took the truck in and still no solution. I am frustrated because nobody is telling me what happens next and I would like to start using this truck hard and putting accessories on it.
I have started the process to lemon law my truck and it looks like its gonna be a long drawn out process with no end in sight. Good luck to you.
