What to check next

Picked up truck from trans shop (in another thread) and now I notice at idle a vibration, more from a miss than rotational imbalance. It smoothes rightout at about 1400 rpm. Truck has been kinda sluggish but thought was more from the old trans last leg getting ground down. I could feel the miss/vibe before but with soft converter and stuffs it wasnt as noticable I quess. Noticed on the 1.5 hour trip home rail pressure would fluctuate about 1k psi up and down when on flat area at steady speed. Rail pressure was around 13K psi. It would go up down up down in about a second and ahalf. Fuel pressure 8" before the Cp3 was a steady 14psi and boost was around 12-13psi. Also have had a loppy idle sometimes almost like a drag car with a cranked up blower. Also if I bring up the rpm to around 13-1400 and let off the peddle it will get a "rattle" as it returns to idle rpm. Edge box was still on the kitchen table had sent it back for update and up-grade to hot unlock. There is no smoke at idle and very little when I romp on it too. I have changed the FCA and no change. There is no extra oil and havent found any leaks of any kind. I removed and reistalled the injectors and there was no change other than no more valve train tick.

Sorry about the long post but just trying to put the most info in about problem.

did you happen to adjust the valves while ya had its lid off ? that rattle could be an out of adjustment valve....... as for the other itmes, fluctuating kpsi, no clue bud.

yep the dealer didnt think it was required to set or atleast check the valve lash after putting in my new injectors and they didnt even have the exhaust valve pivot bolts torqued correctly . So I had to retorque the bolts and reset the valve lash and truck ran and sounded better then but still has this problem. That was about a year ago, I have since removed checked the adapter tubes, injectors and reinstalled and nothing has changed. Could only do a visual inspection but all looked good and put new copper washers on the injectors when I reinstalled them.

Have they replaced the relief valve on the fuel rail? I know that was a shutdown problem when they first came out. It may be an early indicator.

I have tapped and installed a pipe plug in the banjo bolt above the relief valve aswell but didnt make any difference.

Ever have any Cam positioning sensor issues? It should throw a code, but its possible if it hasn't. I would also take a look at the APPS sensor. Just throwing some ideas out there.
