Water in fuel light
Water in fuel light
All,
Went away for two weeks and my baby sat. Got back and the "water in fuel" light keeps coming on when I turn the key. Does not come on while I drive. Have followed the procedure outlined in the owners manual. No luck, home three days and the light still keeps coming on. No change in power, etc. but with winter coming am I getting into something bad??
I keep losening the plastic thing below the filter and I let it drain for a few seconds. Is there a water remover out there that is safe for the finicky 6.7? I have 4700 miles on her now.

Did you update to the AU flash? One of the changes I noted when I got the AU flash is the the water in fuel light comes on when I turn the key part way when starting. Others have observed and reported the same. I believe this is just a self test of the light that was added to the latest flash. If it doesn't stay on I wouldn't worry.

As a side note, I found that to get any fuel to drain from the filter I had to turn the ignition on for a few seconds to run the fuel pump. Otherwise, all I got was a little dribble. Be sure to put something under the drain tube to catch the fuel.
