update on 6.7 fuel filter
I changed the fuel filter on my cab and chassis today, and the best way to do it is through the wheel well. Not fun, but other than taking longer, not to bad. One pleasent surprise on the fuel filter, it is a one piece, plastic canister. Looks to me like there will probably be an aftermarket replacement filter element sometime in the future since the element can be removed from the canister. The way Dodge is selling them, you have to buy the whole thing. Part #05183410AA. If the price is correct, and I'm betting it isn't, the filters are a bargain. $10 apiece. I bought all they had. The parts manager said that they were probably priced wrong and was going to buy a bunch of them. He thought the price would probably be closer to $30 or $40. The screen that has to be checked was cleaner than I though it would be so the fuel tanks were clean to start with, I've heard that some of the 03 and 04 trucks had a lot of plastic shavings in them. All in all, other than taking a lot longer, it wasn't to bad.
