Dribble Filter Update

My Luber-Finer dribble filter hadn't seemed to make any difference at all in the opacity of the oil, and I gave it 9 months just to be sure, then I yanked the cartridge and put in my spare, right away noticing that the output was cut in half. Now my oil has become far less opaque.
The two filters were in the same part numbered boxes, but I think that first one must have been more porus or damaged .

Have you done any oil analysis to test effectiveness of the unit?

Thanks

Color is not a good indication of oil condition, especially in a diesel. I use Blackstone.

Wish I could help ya out on that one. But I've never done an analysis. But, based on info I've gotten from here Blackstone does seem to be a popular choice.

Given anymore thought to converting to TP? Only reason I ask is because I'm trying to fab up my own TP Bypass system.

Thanks Man!

Yes, I think I can pull the filter out of my used cartridge and put TP rolls in it's place. I am just waiting for an opportune time when my wife isn't looking to use her automatic can opener that cuts the rim instead of the lid!

I go through Amsoil for my analysis. And lots of guys use Blackstone. Either way, ya cant go wrong. Im curious to see what kind of results ya get back, I have been looking at those full-flow & BP filter setups for years.

I'll let you know. I ordered the free kit last night, should be here in a week or two. I really like the idea of extra filtration.

Wait TP? Toilet Paper? If so that is the coolest thing ever.

You can actually buy TP filters, and I have heard that they work great. I also heard that at least one of the companies sells TP rolls with thicker center tubes.

OK, You got my attention now! Gotta source for those TP rolls?

From some of the reading I've done, some claim the actual cardboard tube does the majority of the filtering. But I'm kinda skeptical about that one.

Gracias~!

Read the Bypass Filters threads on BITOG to learn more than you ever wanted to know about these things. OTR truckers have been running bypass filters since day one for obvious reasons. Same principles apply. The savings in oil cost, increased longevity of the engines, maintenance downtime for both repairs and just oil changing makes it really well worth it. I've been running bypass filters on four gassers for two years, and the CTD this past year now and never looked back. Got better things to do than changing oil every few thousand miles.
