Turbo E-Brake problem?

I have had my turbo replaced and am now having problems!
I took it in because every once in a while between 70 and 60 mph I would get a squealing noise when the e brake kicked on. They found an oil leak, replaced the turbo and I had them clean the EGR also - even though it has been unplugged since I did the delete 75K miles ago.

NOW THE PROBLEMS!! _ now with the EGR unplugged I get a vibrating noise between 1400 - 1700 RPM and when ever the e brake is on it squeals. It also now squeals when I hammer down too!

With EGR plugged in noises stop but smokes black like crazy and I keep getting the P2000 code.

Any ideas? -

That does not sound good at all.

The squeal sound sounds like a mechanical failure.

The P2000 may be a ghost code, or may be related to a failure of the Bluetec system malfunctioning and causing filter issues. I would think if that is happening that you would be getting similar DPF codes too though.

Do you have any warranty left?

I also get 2453 every once in a while too. No warranty - I have 198K. Did the delete and everything was good until the new Turbo - now it goes into regen lots too!

The noises coming from teh turbo are intermittent - I wonder if it could be caused by airflow over the vanes?

What programmer are you using for the deletes?

If its a Smarty or an H&S it should not be going into regen.

Do you have any of the engine deletes done?

The issues you are describing sound similar to issues that popped up when the EGR Cooler Servo is unplugged instead of the EGR actuator motor.

No programmer - just running the original delete from Flo Pro. It is the actuator that's unplugged.
mechanic found an exhaust leak at the ERG cooler this morning 0 thinks may be part of it

More than likely it is.

My 2 pennies. Since your out of warranty anyway.

Get a Smarty JR an delete the whole lot of it. EGR, EGR Cooler and Throttle Valve. Youll be a lot better off.

YES, of course it will!! Why do you think Blake is on your case. Basically you, or at lease it seems like you tried to take a shortcut. IT IS SIMPLE!!! If you do not have a Smarty Jr, you do not have it right!! Install it, reap the benefits, then come back on the DTR and be another of the thousands that love the MADS!!

You're welcome anytime

The Smarty, or H&S will cure what ails ya. Either will completely eliminate the regen cycle on your truck.

Its all depends on what type of power mods, if any you, are looking to do when it comes to the programmer decision. Want an all in one with gauges, go H&S. Just want something to delete all the bluetec, Smarty Jr. Wanna spin the earth backwards, Smarty TNT*

*supporting mods not included.....

Blake - what do you think of Flo Pro's newer version with the OBDII plug in that resets the regen timer and clears DPF codes? I'm not really looking for performance changes....
See the following http://www.flopro.com/DPFCAT09FEB16.pdf product # 27671

I'm am not familiar with that system but it looks ok. Flopro is a reputable company as far as I know. If the cost is not outrageous I'd give em a try. But if your knocking on the door price wise of a Smarty Jr. Personally, I'd go with proven.

Check the clamp at the turbo outlet also recheck the 4 nuts that hold turbo to exhaust manifold. Look for any soot around egr tube or exhaust manifold. Sounds like exhaust leak and those metal gastkets will make vibration noise if any bolts are loose.

Hey BigIron - turned out to be the exhaust at the EGR cooler! They tightened it up and noise went away!

Blake - I've done a LITTLE research on the Smarty Jr - but I c\nt confirm where it stops Regens and resets the timer. Does it does it do this? Do I need to change the existing Flo Pro sims?
