Trouble shifting to 6th

I have a 2008 Ram with the 68RFE tranny. I noticed in the winter here (in Canada...brrr) that it has been hesitant to shift to 6th gear until the truck has warmed up a bit. Even if I try to force it into 6th, it won't until it is warm. Is this normal? Has anyone else had these issues?

Mine has always acted that way, in real cold weather it takes a bit to shift into 6th. Is it "normal" who knows ?

Thanks. Ya, I don't know if it's "normal", but just wondering if other ppl have been having the same issue. My buddy's truck is a 2007.5 and it doesn't do that. Not sure if I should be concerned or not. Mines got 167,000 km on it, and not sure if it's had any tranny service done. Hoping its not a big deal and it will just keep going

It IS normal and many vehicles do this to protect things when cold.

Ya mine will do it below approx. 45*f as well (trans temp), depending on were your at in our beloved winter wonderland and your definition of "cold" just be nice to the ole girl for the first few miles and it will be fine.

but that being said a tranny drain and refill with a filter change wouldn't hurt either haha

Thanks guys. Gives me a bit of relief. I live near Calgary, AB, so cold is usually pretty cold.
Ya, I gotta get on that tranny flush. Going to get an inline adapter for the cooler line to put my tranny temp sensor in. There's no where on the 68RFE that I can see where I can screw the sensor into

Mine start having this problem last year. If I let it warm up for 10 to 15 minutes it shifts perfect.
