Question........
I am having difficulty getting my truck in gear.
2001 HO with NV 5600 6speed.
I dumped the fluid and switched to amsoil.
No good.
I went back to the recommended MOPAR fluid.
When I want a gear from neutral clutch out,I depress the clutch and try to go to 2nd or 1st gear. It does not want to go in.
3rd or 4th ...it goes.
Then I kinda let the clutch out a little in 4th ,then push in the clutch and it will go right into 1st or 2nd.
Like the synchros are iffy.???????
I replaced the clutch slave..just wasted my $$.
Belive it or not...the tranny actually works best when I am hauling a load.
strange but true.
truck has 120,000 miles.
Could be that this is the nature of the beast...or is it????

Mine is the same , changed to redline mtl , still the same , I find first the worst doesn't do it all the time but enough to notice.

 

Mine also. But if I leave the clutch pushed in and wait a few more seconds it goes in fine. Just makes you go HHHMMMMMMMM.

 

More than likely the Pilot bearing is hanging up, real common on these things!! There is a better bearing available from several sources like Quad 4X4 and Piers Diesel.
