Took a test drive today
This morning I drove a regular cab 4x4 with the automatic. I have been waiting to order until I could drive the auto, wanted to be sure I liked it. I liked the power and the best part was the steering. I don't know how many of you have driven a 2002 but between me and 2 friends we all have the same wandering terrible steering. The auto was OK, I would give it an 8 out of 10. I thought it was a little vague off the line. It seemed like it shifted twice before I even crossed the intersection. Of course the truck was as light as it will ever be so that may be the reason. When I got on the throttle it went now. I liked the egonomics and the interior except for the chrome bezel in the center of the dash, very tacky. So my only decision left is whether I want a SRW or DRW. On a side note I was accompannied by a saleswoman and with no load on the rear the ride was very bumpy, I'll leave the effect on her body to your imagination.

The heck with our imagination!! You need to go back and tell her you need to test drive it just ONE more time to see if you REALLY like her...er, I mean the truck. And, have one of those cell phone video things working to give us a good view of her....er I mean the truck as you drive down the road to let us help you asess the situation, er, I mean the ride.
Doesn't everybody else agree??

Advocate of getting the ban button used on him...
I also agree.
But better yet....Where are you located??? I might need to go test drive a new truck and see how she...I mean it, looks and feels.

I think the motor has huge potential. Very linear power and smooooth. My 2002 is very non linear in terms of how the power comes on, nothing till the turbo gets spun up then good power.
I forgot to mention the OD switch on the shifter stalk. It is a push button and when you push it once 6th lock out, second push 5th locks out so you are 1:1 in 4th. The third push puts you back in normal mode. I'm not too crazy about having to cycle all the way through to get back to normal mode. I was going up a long hill and thought I would drop it into 5th for a little more pull. That worked great and the motor was happy with a little more rpm's. But then I had to go down to 4th before I could go back to 6th at the top of the hill. I was going 60 mph by then and the motor kinda wound out in 4th. Nowheres near redline but it is noticable because the motor usually is running nice low rpms.
I may have to take another test drive to be sure I didn't miss something.

haha ya take pics heh.
i think that having to cycle down to 4th just to go back to 6th wouldnt be a very good idea can you not hold it down for a few seconds to bypass that 4th gear downshift???
