With all of the crap that is before the muffler, you're going to be hard pressed to get anything other than a waste of time by removing the muffler or "straight piping"....if you can even call it that, which no, you can't. I think eventually someone will come up with a way to disable the emissions system so that high performance parts can be added for drag racing or sled pulling. I did read someone on a duramax site that the entire emissions system had been removed with no codes and att the help of some kind of programmer....if I remember correctly
I have to say I have no idea why Dodge-Cummins even went to the extent to put a muffler on after all the other stuff. I am sure we paid top dollar for it too LOL...
Now I don't have to have the noise are anything but the performance. I just figure with that much crud on the exhaust, the motor is going to really have a hard time with the valves... I just wish there was a nice straight pipe on there and I can live with the noise easy enough
Do hope to see someone figure this all out and share the info with us. Reading the differencial pressure like they are at two places will need some magic trick

As far as I know the muffler is part of the emissions system. I have been told that the EPA considers it part of the emissions system. Places that put bodys on cab and chassis aren't even allowed to move the position of the muffler.

To my knowledge there is no such "tool" for a Dodge to do this - is it even possible?
